Description

Purple White is a rare tea grown on Mt Buddha Lotus in Pu’erh, Yunnan province, it is picked from “Purple Cultivar” tea trees that are known to have unique purple colored buds. The tea buds are usually green in color, yet due to their surprising level of anthocyanidin; naturally occurring plant pigments in foods like blueberry present in the leaf, they have a purple-like tone and a unique taste.

Our Purple White tea is lightly oxidized (15%), and is slowly dried under a roof to draw out the unique floral flavor profile. The dry leaf is a mix of whole and wiry leaves that release a delicate sweet aroma- almost a blueberry-like fragrance. Once steeped, the tea releases a brownish purple liquor that has a refreshing light aroma and delicate white tea taste with a floral finish. The unique Purple White is a beautiful must-have for tea enthusiasts to explore and enjoy.

My first experience with a purple leaf tea! This is a large leaf so it will be delicate and will take up quite a bit of room for storage and trying to fit in your brewing vessel. The fun thing about this tea is the aftertaste! You get a mineral, citrus sensation. Much like blueberry with lemon salt. The color is a bit unusual than your normal peony white teas or aged shou mei leaf. A mixture of dark and green leaves. The liquor is not golden nor green, but in between these colors. Cha Qi can be felt with this, I would advise enjoying this in a good sit-down session to reflect on it's flavor. Will purchase more if available when I get low.

As advertised, a nice white tea. I definitely taste the "blueberry" flavours.
