Description

Purple Beauty Sheng, Green Pu'erh is a rare puerh tea grown on Mt Bitter Bamboo in Puerh, Yunnan province, it is picked from tall ancient Purple Cultivar tea trees that have unique colored purple buds. The tea buds are usually green in color, yet due to their surprising level of anthocyanidin- naturally occurring plant pigments in foods like blueberry present in the leaf, they have a purple tone, and a unique taste.

Purple Beauty Puerh is lightly oxidized (3%), with a medium roast and then is sun dried to enhance the flavor profile. The dry leaf is slender and wirey with an almost blueberry-like fragrance. Once steeped the tea released a brownish purple liquor that has a refreshingly smooth sheng (raw, fresh) puerh taste that is delightful with a strong cha-qi. Purple Beauty Puerh is a beautiful must have for puerh enthusiasts to enjoy.

I'm not super familiar with Pu-Erh's and this was my first foray into them. Tea is very light with no real forward flavours. The dry leafs smell like mushrooms which turned me off initially. Would probably give this tea a 2 star if the mushroom notes followed after steeping because there'd at least be some flavour.

So good and soothing. The flavour is very smooth and not on the musty side like you get with many puerhs.

I don't really like Sheng Puerh, but this one, surprisely, is very taste, something between ripe and sheng. Also good for multiply steeping too.

I was looking forward to this unique pu-erh - but apart from a tinge of bitterness, I find it pretty tasteless ...
